8 DAYS – GROUPTOUR 6/12 PERSONS – CROATIA – ** HIKING EXPRERIENCE REQUIRED
The island of Korcula lies off the south coast of Croatia and is one of the most beautiful islands in this region. Experience walking the beautiful nature on this beautiful island that has been declared by many newspapers and magazines as one of the most beautiful islands in the world. It is Croatia in its purest form. Korcula is about an hour and a half sailing from Dubrovnik and is 47 km long and about 7 km wide. Besides old towns, beautiful beaches and bays, you can enjoy the beautiful nature and gastronomy with even organically produced wine.
Narrow hiking trails lead past centuries-old olive trees, through vineyards and you walk through wonderfully smelling forests. Along the way you will see Dalmatian villages with terracotta-colored roofs, romantic bays with clear blue water and the most beautiful beaches.
Korcula is an island that is ideal to visit every season. The hottest, sunny days are of course in the summer. Then the temperatures rise to an average of 29 degrees. But even in winter, Korcula is a beautiful island to visit. The temperatures are then mild, around 11 degrees. You can enjoy the beautiful nature and beautiful views of the Adriatic Sea every season.
You can compare the mentality on the island with the Italian mentality. Not surprising because once the island was part of the Venetian republic, and it was called Curzola. Korcula has built up name recognition as the birthplace of the famous explorer Marco Polo. It has not been officially proven, but the fact is that many people on this island carry the family name Polo. Officially, Marco Polo was born in Venice, but since Korcula fell under Venice during that period, it can indeed be true.
Reception by the tour guide at Dubrovnik airport and then a tour of about 1 hour with an English speaking guide through Dubrovnik. At the end of the afternoon by minibus to Korčula.
Walk to Pupnat and Kneže. You walk on an old road that was built in the time of Napoleon. Via Pupnat you arrive in Kneže, Pupnat is the oldest village on the island of Korcula, about 12 km from Korcula town. The village was cleverly moved by settlers in the hilly part of the island to not be noticed by pirates.

A good reason to try the local wine at the restaurants in Lumbarda!
