Cycling holiday on Korcula

Cycling holiday on Korcula

from   € 1.095,00

In the Croatian city of Trogir in Dalmatia you immediately return to Roman times. The old town is very interesting to visit. This area has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1997 and contains architecture in various styles, from Baroque to Romanesque. Cycle through smaller, but at least as cozy fishing towns as Vela Luka and Brna on the island of Korcula.

Enjoy beautiful sunsets on the Adriatic sea and taste the atmosphere in various characteristic towns. Old grandeur radiates to you in Korcula. Nature overwhelms during the bike rides along the beautiful clear sea on the Adriatic coast of Croatia. A fantastic holiday destination, a beauty of a tour.

Day 1 - Arrival

Arrival at Split airport (14:35h). After arrival at the hotel we will visit Trogir. In the evening a delicious dinner awaits us at the hotel.
2

Day 2 - 29km, 02:45u, 430 ↑↓

Transfer by bus to Split followed by the crossing to Vela Luka on the island of Korcula. The bikes are already ready for the first short bike ride to the hotel. During this route you often cycle along the coast.
3

Day 3 - 50km, 04:45u, 930 ↑↓

Today a pit ride with quite a few altimeters. We drive through various old villages that this island is rich with. We stop in Blato, where more than 11.000 people lived during the heyday. Today, around 3.500 still live there. Almost at the end of the ride we visit a local wine cellar.
4

Day 4 - 43km, 04:00u, 780 ↑↓

Today we cycle to the island of the same name, Korcula. According to the locals, the famous world traveler Marco Polo was born here. This is of course disputable, but it could very well be that he moved here as a small child, since this island used to be under the Venetian rule. On the way to Korcula we visit several villages.
5

Day 5 - A free day or...?

A day off or optionally an excursion and/or a tour with an English-speaking guide. A trip by bike or a nice walk is of course also an option.
6

Day 6 - 42km, 04:10u , 700 ↑↓

Cycle tour to the town of Pupnat with Lumbarda as the final destination. Pupnat is the oldest village on the island of Korcula, you cycle on an old road that was built in the time of Napoleon. The village has been cleverly moved by settlers in the hilly part of the island to not be noticed by pirates. After this we cycle on to the fishing village of Lumbarda. This is a village with quiet and cozy beaches and delicious wines. The Grk grape is grown around the village and used for fine dessert wines and white wine. Most winemakers produce enough to provide local restaurants with their wines and to meet their own needs. A good reason to try the local wine at the restaurants in Lumbarda!
7

Day 7 - 60km, 04:45u, 900 ↑↓

Today we say goodbye to the island of Korcula and sail on to the mainland. There we get on a bicycle to ride to the town of Ston where one of the oldest salt pans still in service can be found. After this milestone we will continue to Dubrovnik by minibus.

Day 8 - Dubrovnik & departure

On this last day we take the opportunity to visit Dubrovnik after breakfast before we leave for the airport in the early afternoon.
Itinerary subject to change. It is possible that we have to adjust the program due to weather conditions or local events.
