The municipality has about 4,000 inhabitants and can be reached by the main island road from Smokvica, passing through wooded areas in the middle of the island. The settlement is built amphitheater-style on several hills around the central, smaller valley. It stretches along a long avenue of linden trees called Zlinja.

For those seeking a beach getaway, there are several options to choose from. Prigradica offers stunning turquoise waters and convenient amenities, while Prizba is known for its family-friendly atmosphere and water sports. Babina is a great destination for families with young children, and Rasoha offers a peaceful and uncrowded beach experience.

🏖 Beaches

Babina

Urbanised, larger bay on the northern shores east of Blato and west of Racisce. Pebble beach in the heart of the bay with plenty of sunshine (faces NW). Good shade from mature tamarisk bushes and olive trees. Currently no restaurants or cafes — bring your own refreshments.

Grscica

A village on the south side near Prizba and Blato. Spreads along a peaceful cove surrounded by indented coast full of hidden bays and beaches. Several charming islets in front of the cove make Grscica attractive, especially for yachts and vessels. Traditionally a fisherman's place.

Karbuni

A village on the south side of Korcula, 6 kilometers from Blato and Vela Luka. Original island countryside with stone terraces and plantations of olives, surrounded by small islets. Favorable climate and warm sea ensure delightful stay and swimming in extraordinarily bright sea during spring, summer and autumn.

Prigradica

Small bay on the northern coast near Blato. In the 19th and early 20th century the bay served as the main harbor for exporting wine and olive oil. Large jetty built by Austro-Hungarian Empire. Nowadays a tourist village with many newly built houses renting rooms and apartments. Has a shop, cafe and restaurant. Lively in summer, sleepy out of season.

Prizba

A stretch of land on Korcula's southern shores close to Blato, Smokvica, Brna and Istruga. Faces open sea and Lastovo island. Two bays: Vela and Mala Prizba, formed on both sides of a small peninsula with a smallish pebble beach.

Pizzeria Tinel — Blato

A few minutes walking from the center of Blato, in a house over 150 years old. Good pizza and specialty made in an old original wood-fired stove. 'Tinel' is old Blato's word meaning living room. Visit and check the authentic ambient.

Konoba Zlinje — Blato

Family owned restaurant specializing in traditional Dalmatian dishes. About 100 years ago this was a wine cellar — hence 'Konoba'. Traditional Dalmatian dishes always made from freshest ingredients sourced by local farmers and fishermen. Open daily for lunch and dinner.

200 BAR, Bar & Kitchen — Grscica

Welcome all day — coffee, cold beer, lunch, snacks or a nice meal. Bar & Kitchen with games to play. Can hold groups up to 50 people (reservations advised).

Tiki bar — Karbuni

Simple and super tasty grilled meat and fish, pizzas, awesome hamburger and fishburgers.

Top quality food with special emphasis on fresh fish specialities caught that day. Large selection of drinks and premium wines. Fish preparation in presence of the guest, contributing to confidence in quality. Professional and friendly staff.

Just a few meters from the beach. Delicious dishes and unforgettable sea view. Traditional dishes with different meats and freshly grilled fish. Local specialties with typical vegetable side dishes, pasta, risotto, octopus salad. Fritters, pancakes or fresh fruit salad for dessert.

Caffe bar 'Tempera' — Prigradica

Best position in Prigradica, wonderful staff and reasonable prices. Coffee, drink or ice cream, croissant or sandwich. Local youth hang out here. Perfect summer vibe.

Restaurant Cerin — Prizba

Great Mediterranean cuisine. Perfectly cooked octopus, sea bass and octopus salads. Known for great service and friendly staff, peaceful atmosphere.

Blato 1902 shop & tasting room

Autochthonous Korčula varieties — Plavac Mali, Cetinka, Posip, Marastina and Zlatarica Blatska — alongside Merlot and Syrah. Own rootstocks for production and sale. Continuous consolidation of land under vines and olive groves, ensuring quality raw materials.

Jovanov winery

Family-owned winery in the middle of stunning Korcula. Premium wines from locally grown grapes tended by the family. Focus on elegance and balance, showcasing the island's unique terroir. Cosy wine bar and tasting terrace with guided tour of the vineyard.

Family has worked devotedly for many years. Wines from own vineyards, plus traditional delicacies such as olive oil.

Ethno museum Barilo

Dita always had a passion for searching for antiques. Returning from Zagreb to native Blato in the 90s, together with her husband, she began collecting antiquities marking their ancestors' lives. Today the collection holds 579 items, on the List of Protected Cultural Heritage since 2005. Over 60% family-owned objects, rest were donations.

Mala Kapja

Working farm off the main road from Blato to Korcula Town (turn-off signed by a fat chef in striped vest). Raises most of the meat it serves up. Expertly grilled or baked under a peka, served on an open terrace overlooking Blato's fertile farmland.
